Uniform _ 1st Placement _ Summer Diary

This week I returned back to Uniform, a creative agency based in Liverpool for another 2 week long placement. This was a follow up from the 6 weeks that I did over last summer and as I really got on well with the people who work there and really appreciated their work, I wanted to impress as well as I could in order to put me in the best possible place to get a longer-term.

As I realised that I didn't blog any work from the 6 weeks I did over summer, I thought I'd start by talking a little bit about that...

Who are Uniform?

Uniform are an independent creative agency based in Liverpool UK. They specialise in creating brand stories for clients including large scale campaigns across both print and web based media.

Why I am here?

I initially contacted Uniform because I was looking do do a placement at a studio that I really liked the work of. I contact a couple of studios in Manchester that I liked, a couple in Leeds and Uniform in Liverpool. Out of the 5 different studios, I realised that Uniform is the kind od place that I would like to work in the future. Their design is inspirational, and something that I would be able to push my career in the right direction...

Concept / Development

Throughout this placement, I was really happy that I had the chance to work on some large scale briefs, one of which was for the Football Association (FA). I really understood the importance and level of concept development that went in to each and every brief and it was all amazing experience being part of this buzzing creative environment where every shares ideas for the ultimate end goal...

Pitching to Clients

I also had the chance to be involved in the process of pitching to clients. Although I didn't actually go own to London to pitch to the FA, I did have the responsibility of putting together one of the pitch presentations, which was nerve racking at first, but again all good practice and fun...

Imagine the Impossible

Probably the biggest brief I worked on was a wall mural in the Kitchen of Uinform Headquarters. This was to commerate the end of year earning presentation and new studio space which they had not longed moved into. I worked with one of the senior designers on this project, using stencils to apply the designs onto the wall, then painting...
