Once you have identified your audience produce a creative cv that you can mail and email to your selected list. This should include your own contact details, a short personal statement, information about your practical skills, creative skills and interests as well as your professional experience, personal qualities and information about what makes you distinct from any other designer.
Concept
Following on from my business card concept of sending out matchbooks instead of cards using the slogan "i'm the creative spark* your missing", I decided to also apply this to a cv which I could create multiple copies of at not a ridiculous expensive price.
Matches
I decided to go shopping for some cool matches that would fit these theme as I wanted to use a real life match and ignition paper within my CV (a little bit dangerous maybe, but also hitting on the shock value). I ended up buying some extra long matches, as I felt these would look the best on the front of my CV. I also decided that the format should be (a3) and fold out from an (a6) size, with the match on the front.
Design & Interaction
When folded down, The CV will be roughly (a6) in size. In the middle of this a6 piece will be one of the extra long matches. I will secure this in place by making two incisions in the stock creating a middle flap of paper which the match can slot in securely.
Once opened up to (a4) size, on the inside of the CV will be a large paragraph of text which simply reads;
"Hi my name is Sam Lane. I'm a young conceptual driven graphic designer, and I'm the creative spark* that your missing".
This ties directly into my concept of using matches and linking this to the idea of a creative spark but in a more physical format.
Interaction
The idea is that either the text itself id laser cut out of emery paper (which is a type of sandpaper used to strike matches on). Or, there might be a bar at the side of the text which the user can strike the match on to create an actual flame.
You will notice that there is an Asterix next to the word spark* and also a paragraph to refer to underneath. This will be a lighthearted way of getting my point across further.
"*If you strike me i’ll become ablaze. But it’s probably safer and more appropriate to just drop me an email and get a more theoretical fire started.
samlanedesign@hotmail.com"
The back of this page will just read...
"open me up to see what i've done and what i'm about."
This will then fold out so that the opposite (a3) side will have all the important details about me and what I do and my experience. This will be fairly simply typeset, again showing some of my skills. I don't think it needs to be all fancy info graphs because from the feedback i've already received from studios i've visited are that they like to see innovative ideas but when it comes to the information it needs to be clear.
Just some close ups of the information included.

Final CV
Here are some images of the final creative CV in action. I printed this on the chosen buttercup coloured stock with black ink and added the additional emery paper and match to generate my concept;
