OUGD402 // Speaking From Experience // Logo Development

I started work on the logo for my box of first aid booklets. I wanted to go with the first aid cross but also play on the idea to see what worked the best...

I started by using the simple 'plus'' symbol in a variety of different ways tilting it and manipulating it then adding the 'BAGD initials to it to see how it looked. I preferred the diagonal cross style the best so moved on from here. I don't think the text is successful in this way...

I attempted to create arched type above and below the 'x'. 'First Year' and 'First Aid' is almost the same so would look very balanced this way. The logo is starting to become a little more successful but i prefer the smaller font in the bottom left...

These are my two favourite resolved logos. They are really simple but do the job whilst also looking comtemporary and create a really nice balance of text around the logo for it to set in the centre of my front cover...

Some of my design sheet ideas was to have the cross made from plasters so i put this idea into action...

I used this image of a band-aid as refererence. Here are the stages above to creating the simple illustration. I ensured that the plaster would be perfectly symmetrical...

I tried the '+' and 'X' techniques of the first aid symbol again. I preferred the 'X' again...

Next, i made the illustration look as though one of the plasters was peeling away from the page by editing the corner. I think this adds to the design making it a little bit more quirky and also realistic...

I went on to make an illustration of a 'student' with a plaster on their leg. This could be used as a possible front cover but i'm not sure if it would fit the whole theme of my student guide...
