Erik Kessels & the Trip to Amsterdam

Creative Networks Event

I recently worked on the Creative Networks Branding for the Erik Kessels talk at Leeds College of Art, which you can see in the image above. After the talk itself, I got talking to Erik about his work, as I am a huge fan. He was also talking about the posters I created for the event and then he actually invited down to look at his studio in Amsterdam which was incredible.

On the back of this, we decided to go on a research / leisure trip to Amsterdam for a few days over the Easter period...

KesselsKramer Studio

The visit to KesselsKramer was brilliant and was massively inspirational of my own personal future plans. It made me realise that we don't have to stick to the UK and theres loads of awesome things going on around europe and the world. I would love to work in a place like this one day, especially because I really love Amsterdam as a city too. The lifestyle and work combination is desirable.

We got given a tour around the studio itself by Erik's secretary and it is brilliant! It's located inside a renovated old church so the fixtures and fitting and unbleivable. They had also built these treehouse structures where at different levels they had different work stations. Such an amazing creative  place to work in. We managed to also have a sneaky look at some of the work they were currently working on, as you can see in the top photo. The bottom photo is the Door Knocker on the front of the church.

Really appreciate the fact that Erik invited us over, and this has really helped to inform my decisions about working in the future...
